Gum disease has three primary stages: gingivitis, periodontitis, and advanced periodontitis. The type of treatment necessary depends on the state of the disease. When gum disease is detected early, it’s much easier to treat. Gingivitis can be reversed with a routine dental cleaning. If the disease has progressed, then other treatments will be necessary, such as deep cleanings, laser treatment, or
periodontal surgery. Routine exams and cleanings are a good way to keep gum disease at bay.
